Full term! March 22, 2009
Now that I’m at 37 weeks, River is technically full term. If she was born tomorrow, she wouldn’t be premature! Wow.
Here is the latest belly picture. It’s actually a week old, but you can safely assume I still look about the same:
Check it out, the kiddo has a carseat, along with a beautiful blanket, handknit by Heather, that matches perfectly!
I spent most of last week on a kitchen mission. The mission was to start filling the freezer with meals so that it’ll be easy to keep ourselves fed after River is born. The kitchen looked about like this for most of the week:
I made large amounts of black bean soup and three pans of lasagna, two of which went into the freezer. We ate the other one. Yum!
And an update on the last post: I’ve been doing my inversion exercises and have been to the chiropractor twice already and am going again on Monday and Tuesday. It’s funny how none of the things I’m supposed to do to try to turn the baby are actually very fun or even comfortable. I keep obsessively poking my belly to try to figure out whether she’s turned already, but I can’t tell. Oh well, I’ll find out Tuesday at the next appointment.
Yes, the belly is continuing to grow February 22, 2009
Moving around is getting to be tougher. I bought a new pair of shoes that blessedly do not have any laces or buckles that require me to bend over and deal with them. 🙂 Also, now you can easily see from the outside when the baby is shifting around on the inside. It’s definitely strange to look down at my belly and see it moving when I myself am sitting perfectly still.
Continuing to grow! January 23, 2009
The baby is definitely getting bigger, as am I:
I’m going in on Thursday for what will probably be our final ultrasound. I’m excited to see how she’s changed since the last one. We’re supposed to get a DVD, so I’ll post pictures and possibly video so everybody else can see if they still think she looks like Darren. 🙂
Also, I meant to get a picture of our new bed, but didn’t get around to it yet. We went out and bought a king-sized bed to replace the old full-sized one because, as Darren put it, “The Belly was taking over the bed.” The Belly can’t help it! The Belly just needs some personal space. And lots of pillows.
The baby has acquired a room, and furniture January 4, 2009
We’re starting to make a lot of the practical preparations that will need to get done before the baby is born. A couple of weeks ago, we moved bookcases around in the library/meditation room so that it could become the library/meditation room/guest room. We moved the futon in there and cleared the other furniture out of the former guest room so it could become the baby’s room. And thanks to the help and generosity of our families, the baby’s room is now getting filled with the baby’s stuff.
The baby now has a crib. (Thanks, Joel and Jen and Gillian!)
She also now has a dresser/changing table and a bookcase. Grandpa Mike and Grandma Jamie picked them up at Ikea in Michigan for us and hauled them out here in their Suburban. Then they even helped us put them together. (Thanks so much, guys!) I didn’t get any action shots of the dresser being put together, largely because I had a screwdriver in my hand at the time instead of a camera, but I did get to supervise Darren and Mike putting together the bookcase. Rook also supervised:
And for those who haven’t seen me recently, yes, I am continuing to expand:
The baby likes to wake up early in the morning and do somersaults. She is getting noticeably stronger, and the other day she was moving so vigorously that I was picturing her being like the Incredible Hulk, smashing her fist down on my insides and saying, “Hulk smash!”
Yep, my belly keeps getting bigger December 2, 2008
Weirdly, the top of my belly, which contains only innards, sticks out farther than the bottom, which contains the actual baby. Whatevs.
Finally starting to look like there’s a baby in there… November 20, 2008
Still not as impressive as Darren’s though… 🙂
